Verify a pinhole-free coating using the Tinker-Rasor high voltage holiday detector. Tinker-Rasor is a leader in holiday detection equipment. The portable,  transitorized detector uses a charged electrode and a ground wire (attached to the uncoated substrate) to complete a circuit and produce an audible signal and spark indicating a pinhole or flaw in the coating. The tester is suitable for use on any nonconductive coating applied to a conductive substrate. The device operates using a power pack and produces a spark upon detection. It is not intrinsically safe. The Model APW is supplied in a wide range of voltages (6 settings on each unit) up to 35,000 volts. The applied voltage is typically 100-125 volts per mil, however the coating manufacturer should be consulted for the recommended voltage setting. The detector is sold complete with a power pack, charger, 25 foot ground cable, carrying strap and standard 8" spring or conductive silicone rubber electrode (choose during purchase) in a rugged storage case. Various sizes of silicone rubber and wire brush electrodes available for separate purchase. The detector conforms to ASTM D5162.  Made in the USA.
